“Sustainable – Comfortable Space —— 2011 Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards for Elite”, as “Best Environmental Protection – Low Carbon Products Design Awards”, “Sustainable- Future Space Design Awards” opened in chengdu city which has been called the “land of abundance” in the May 21.

The theme of “2011 Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards for Elite” is “comfortable space - low carbon life”. The inspiration of this subject comes from the mainstream of the world: achieving sustainable development through design and science technology in aspect of save resource, reduce energy consumption and increase cost-effectiveness, and responding to global warming, relieve the energy crisis and reduce the pollution of the environment. Awards hope through the space of scientific design and the rational application of building and furnishing materials of designer, combining with different countries and regions of the advanced experience and methods in architecture and interior, discuss an effective way of architecture, interior energy reduction to raise public awareness of environmental protection, and protect global environment. Meanwhile, Awards hope to create a more comfortable, energy saving, environmental protection, sustainable living space to reflect the values ​​and achievements of designer in the process of special significance.

     Chengdu Press Conference of the 2011 Awards was opened at Bin-go Expert in the afternoon of May 21. The Press Conference was organized by Asia Pacific Interior Design Centre,《AXD-Spatial Arts》magazine, and China Institute of Interior Design in Chengdu branch (CIID, China member of IFI). Guests and local design elite gathered in the Press Conference. With the beautiful violin playing, the Conference began.

Mr. Liu youda, vice president of China Institute of Interior Design, has spoken highly of event in his speech and said: “……The national development in turning period, with a qualitative leap. Domestic and international design groups, organizations, institutions and the design will be more and more exchange activities. These institutions and activities will form renaissance, and this is a good thing. International competition in Chengdu fully embodies Chengdu designers have a high degree. Chengdu is the land of abundance, and Hangzhou is heaven on earth. I hope that those two heavens will be developed together, and the development of Chinese interior design will take a “Heaven” Road……”

Mr. Claude Bérubé, president of Asia Pacific Design Centre, introduces the event and Asia Pacific Design Centre (APDC) for Chengdu designer on the news conference.

Mr. Claude Bérubé said that Sustainability is a long and winding road. Our event goes along with the decision of the United Nations to identify Sustainability as a Critical Priority and the creation of the Commission on Sustainability Development in 1992. We, at Asia Pacific Design Centre, see this event as an introduction to a changing technology world that is believe to have the potential of altering the way materials and products are developed, manufactured and disposed off.

Since Mr. Claude Bérubé was invited to participate into Asian Pacific Design Centre, he contribute efforts to promote the development and exchange of Asia-Pacific design culture and skills, as well as to promote the low-carbon green design and nanotechnology techniques witch was more in line with his philosophy. In his speech, Mr. Claude Bérubé said APDC will become the best design association which ensures that designers are offered the best opportunities to learn about the world design tendencies and to gain international recognition. Academic height of APDC is in line with the largest world design associations such as the American International Interior Design Association. In addition, Mr. Claude Bérubé introduced the judges of this event composition to the guests and designers, and especially introduced Mr. Ken Yeang who is the International jury of event. Mr. Ken Yeang is regarded as the father or inventor of the bioclimatic skyscraper.      

After the speeches of guests, with the official start of ceremony, the scene atmosphere reached the peak.

Finally, the guests have listened with the speech of Mr. Deng le as the theme of “sculpture And space”. He is master tutor in the School of Arts and Communications of Southwest Jiaotong University, member of British Royal Sculpture Association, member of Chinese Artists Association, National Level Artist and Vice President of Sichuan Fine Arts Association.
