International City of Gastronomy And WineOn 6.5 hectares, the CIGV defines a new gateway to the city of Dijon and its region. Located at the start of the renowned wine tasting route known as the Route des Grands Crus, the International City of Gastronomy in Dijon has open its doors in may 2022 on the site of a former hospital. Timeline-wise, the project predates the 2015 Unesco inscription, and in fact originates from the ‘intangible cultural heritage’ status awarded in 2010 to the gastronomic meal of the French.Our architectural approach aims to establish a dialogue between the traditions and the modernity of French cuisine, reusing historic elements as part of the architectural programme. A residential eco-district rounds out this cultural project. The project will include a living museum of gastronomy, a covered market, a hospitality management school, a start up hub and a 4-star hotel.The difficulties of a former hospital is that they are self-sufficient places,they are isolated without links to the city, hidden and closed off for healing.
